Ch-ch-ch-changes….

March 15, 2015 By SandRa Timmins 3 Comments

I haven’t written much about our new space and new gardens because frankly not much has been happening..sort of.  Being in my third trimester of pregnancy I haven’t been able to do diddly squat except lament to anyone whom will listen about how much of a frustrated gardener I am (thank you!).

stone border

Future herb garden?

Last weekend my lovely assistant (ie. husband) finally had a day off (he’s currently working six days a week dawn to dusk) and put together the borders for two of my beds.  The herb garden from rocks around the property and rotting great hunks of sliced tree for my keyhole garden.  Hoo-ra!

And then the digger came in.

This is what we thought we had to play in.

Weed whacking pasture

a whole paddock

This what we’ve got.

haz-mesh

Note the haz-mesh, it goes all the way down.

Behind that delightful orange mesh is going to be a “bund” which is pretty much a hill.  A fence.  And a four lane motorway.  But that’s not all!  Oh no.  At the end of the paddock going over part of the horse arena is a great big whopping roundabout.. The Peka Peka interchange as part of the Mackays to Peka Peka new road extravaganza.  What was my wonderful view whilst watching the kids swing…

Peka Peka

Is this now and only set to get worse..

So it’s all very close to home, changes the ball game really.  To continue with gardens or not is the question.  To stay or not to stay.  It’s a gonna get real noisy.  And then there’s going to be a road a lot closer than what we were led to believe…..
