Feverfew

Feverfew ~ Tanacetum parthenium

AKA;  Chrysantheium parthenium, Featherfew, Featherfoil, Flirtwort, Bachelor’s Buttons

Feverfew, Tanacetum parthenium, plants for sale in NZ

Feverfew is a native of South-east Europe and is the champion herb for migraine sufferers.  In clinical trials 70% of migraine sufferers improved after eating the fresh leaf (between a couple of slices of bread, it’s quite bitter).  I don’t know how long you would expect to eat it daily but I’m guessing if it helps you won’t want to stop. 🌿All my plants are grown organically.

Feverfew

  • Growth Type; Woody perennial

Growing Feverfew

  • Climate; Any
  • Exposure; Full sun, wind does no harm

  • Tips; Self seeds readily and grows rapidly in its first year. The flowers dry nicely for decorative purposes.

Using Feverfew

  • Medicinal Actions and Uses; Anti-inflammatory, vasodilatory (widening of blood vessels), relaxant, digestive bitter, uterine stimulant. Migraine relief is it its most famous claim to fame, can also be helpful for painful periods and varicose veins. May also help with arthritis when it is in the painfully active inflammatory stage. Do not take if pregnant.
